Domenico Dolce is born on 13th September 1958 in Polici Jenerosa, Italy, and Stefano Gabbana on 14th November 1962 in Venice, according to some sources Milano, Italy. The two met in Milano in 1980 and worked for the same fashion house. In 1982 they established a designer consulting studio. In time it grew to become the famous fashion house “Dolce & Gabbana”. They presented their first women’s collection in 1985 in Milano, where a year later their store would open its doors (1986). Two years later they launched their leotard line and in 1989 started designing underwear and swimming costumes. They started to export their products in Japan and other countries like the USA where they found their own showroom in 1990. The same year they showed their men’s collections. They also launched their first perfume Dolce & Gabbana in 1992. The line D&G started in 1994 and was designed for young people hence the reason for it to be at more affordable pricing. They created sunglasses collections of their own design in 1995. They won the Woolmark award in 1991 and the prize “most feminine flavor of the year” in 1993. The time span between 21st January 1905 and 24th October 1957 takes into account the life and creations of one of the giants in world fashion, Christian Dior. Dior received influence which was integral and complex in his original and large scale creations. In purely biographical aspect this comes his mother’s elegance. Her style inspired him for decades to come. As an intelligent and spiritually growing individual he showed interest in history and archeology. Valentino Garavani was born on May 11th 1932 in Vogera, Italy. Hi had graduated from the Arts Academy in Milano and later on the School of Syndicate of the representatives of high fashion in Paris. He began his professional career with the famous French designer Jean Dese, whom he assisted from 1950 to 1955. Between 1956 and 1958 he worked for Guy Laroche. Valentino began to raise into a cult the luxurious, elegant and moderate wastefulness, mixed with notes of provocativeness and scandal. After changing a few more employers he established his own fashion house in 1959 and showed his first collection in 1960. Even as early as this period next to Valentino stood his business partner Giancarlo Jametti who had previously studied architecture. The two of them become a great and long lasting team who seek out more than just growth, they are responsible for the creation of the fashion academy in Rome. Between 1970 and 1975 he created design projects for Emanuel Ungaro. In 1974 together with Sergo Galeotti they created their first fashion house specializing in the making of and selling modern male clothing. Their partnership continued until Galeotti’s death in 1985. Giorgio Armani released his female collection in 1975. In 1981 he began launching sport lines Emporio Armani and Armani Jeans. In 1987 he released the affordable female version Mani. His first big success comes in 1996 – Armani released the men’s flavor Acqua di Gio. Followed by Armani Mania (2002), Sensi (2002) and Black Code (known today as Armani Code) for men (2004). In 2005 he debuted with Prive in Paris. It includes the following flavors: Armani Prive Bois d’Encens & Eau de Jade and Armani Prive Pierre de Lune & Ambre Soie.
